What's New > NATS launches new alumni program, NSA Generations

Since the National Student Auditions began in 2014, NATS has welcomed more than 5,500 students of NATS members to participate in the semifinal and final rounds. NSA was created to provide students with performance opportunities and a way to receive constructive feedback on their auditions from a panel of distinguished adjudicators. Offering over $84,000 in prizes across more than 35 categories, NSA encourages students to improve upon and hone their technical voice and performance skills amongst a supportive setting of collegial voice teachers.
NSA has been a mainstay for NATS, and the program continues to grow. Since 2014, NATS has given out more than $400,000 in prizes, and in 2025 will award over $84,000 in prizes across 35 categories. In a typical year, NATS sees about 13,466 students auditioning from more than 80 NATS chapters.
This year, NATS is thrilled to introduce NSA Generations, a new alumni program inviting former and current auditionees along with their families to join a support network. This group will have the opportunity to connect and share career advice, volunteer at NSA events, and support the growth and student-impact of NSA through philanthropic gifts, if they so choose.
“With the addition of the new children and youth division, as well as the commercial music categories, the NSA program is continuing to grow and provide incredible performance opportunities for students of NATS teachers,” said NATS Development Director Jen Jimenez. “We are delighted to create a group where participants can connect with each other as well as support future auditionees through volunteerism or philanthropy.”
The three pillars of the NSA Generations Alumni Program are Connection, Volunteerism, and Philanthropy. As members of NSA Generations, students and their families will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, create connections, and network with their musical peers as they pursue their passions.
“As NSA is held at different locations across North America, members can volunteer as room monitors, check-in assistants, and task runners, and more,” Jimenez added. “We will be coming to a city near you soon!”
Along with the development of the new alumni program is the creation of a new philanthropic fund, the NSA Fund. This fund supports creative, logistical, and practical costs of producing the NATS National Student Auditions semifinals and finals each year. These include but are not limited to student awards, named prizes, venue rental fees, collaborative pianist expenses, piano rentals, and audio/video equipment. By supporting the NATS NSA Fund, donors are creating opportunities for more students, from around the world, to gain valuable life and performance skills by participating in the NSA semifinal and final rounds.
