Job Description / Duties

The Lead Mentor of Vocal Performance is responsible for providing a comprehensive vocal education/performance program for all students. Teaches techniques of vocal music expression and discovers and helps to develop each student an appreciation of the art of vocal music.

Provides a balanced vocal music program that includes instruction, preparation, rehearsals, and organization of assigned tasks.

Teaches skills in vocal music; teaches listening theory and supportive courses relating to the nature, structure and meaning of music; helps students develop discriminatory judgments about music.

Provides oversight and teaching instruction to our local community partner school districts.

Prepares curriculum that reflects accommodations for individual student differences.

Utilizes repertoire of all available types of music literature including classical, traditional, and contemporary utilizing different methods.

Plans, rehearses, and directs students for recitals, auditions, and other community performances.

Places students in appropriate ensembles when needed.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications

Degree in music, vocal performance or music education is preferred but not required. In lieu of degree, equivalent related experience necessary.

Minimum 5 years’ experience teaching voice to students of all ages and levels.

Demonstrated expertise in voice pedagogy.

Thorough understanding of contemporary/popular music pedagogy.

Expertise in a broad range of musical genres and styles.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to play piano accompaniments in private lessons.

Effective communication skills to covey musical information and vocal techniques.

Ability to oversee and/or run live rehearsals and performances.

Passionate about music and teaching and a commitment to students' progress and success.

Professional demeanor, energetic, creative, patient, and flexible.

Additional Information

Individual should be available to start in early August to prepare for the Fall Semester.

Salary: $45,000
