Job Description / Duties

The Department of Theatre at Auburn University invites applications for an appointment as Instructor of Musical Theatre, beginning in the fall of 2018. The successful candidate will join the faculty of a strong B.A./B.F.A. program within the College of Liberal Arts. Responsibilities
include vocal coaching MT students in private lessons, advising on Music Theatre repertoire, providing accompaniment for departmental classes, showcases, auditions, musical theatre production rehearsals and performances. In addition, the position provides opportunities to music direct, and adapt, arrange, compose, or develop original works depending on the candidates’ particular interests.

To be competitive, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Instrumental Performance, Music Education, Musical Theatre, Music/Theory/Composition or related field, and at least two years’ experience in music direction for musical theatre productions. Significant professional experience, continuous documented excellence in teaching, or other demonstrated competencies and achievements that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes will be considered as well. Ability to collaborate as a member of a well-established artistic team is essential. An MFA is desired.
