Bio: In opera, recital and concert appearances with opera companies, symphony orchestras, chorales and ensembles, soprano Jeryl Cunningham’s thoughtful music-making and fervent advocacy of African American music share equal acclaim with the majesty of her voice. Her operatic roles include that of Clara (Porgy and Bess), Countess Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), and the Queen on the Night (The Magic Flute). She is a regular soloist and Assistant Director of the American Spiritual Ensemble and has toured with them throughout Europe and the United States. Ms. Cunningham received a doctoral degree at the University of Kentucky under the supervision of Dr. Everett McCorvey.
