Title: Associate Professor of Voice

Bio: A recipient of a judges' citation for Inspiration in Teaching from The American Prize (2014), Dana Zenobi joined the faculty at Butler University in 2018 after teaching for just over a decade at Southwestern University (Georgetown, TX). At Butler University, she teaches studio voice, pedagogy, diction, and vocal literature courses, and directs the Butler University Vocal Competition for high school students. She currently serves as the District Governor for Indiana NATS. Her recital work focuses attention on Art Song by women, and she was one of the first artists to record Margaret Bonds' settings of Edna St. Vincent Millay's six sonnets (Hildegard Publishing 2021, J. Michael Cooper, Editor). JOYS ABIDING, an album of duets by historical women composers with baritone Oliver Worthington and pianist Chuck Dillard, was released with Navona Records in 2022. The JOYS ABIDING duet score anthology is available from Classical Vocal Reprints. Zenobi has also garnered operatic successes, appearing in the American Premiere of Philip Glass's Waiting for the Barbarians with Austin Lyric Opera, and performing with Lyric Opera Cleveland in the first production of Mark Adamo's Little Women directed by the composer. A grateful recipient of the 2020 NATS Voice Pedagogy Award, Zenobi has presented research on music by women composers and acoustics of the singing voice at conferences and festivals including the 2022 NATS National Conference, South Texas and Texoma Regional NATS, the International Music By Women Festival, the Voice Foundation, the Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA), Bel Canto Boot Camp, and the Associated Colleges of the South Gender Studies Conference. A native of Northport, NY, she earned both DMA and MM from The University of Texas at Austin, and holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in Music and Women’s Studies from Duke University. www.danazenobisoprano.com
