Beverly Vaughn

Bio: Bev Vaughn graduated from the Westminster Choir College in 1977 with a BM in Music Education. She completed a masters degree in 1979 from UNCG with an MM in music Education and a PhD in 2007 in Music Education. She taught in the public schools in Rockingham County for 27 years where she had 5 choirs, general music, arts appreciation and theater. Her choirs consistently received superior ratings and have sung in many prestigious venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, St. John the Divine and with the Riverside choir at Riverside Church in NYC. She is the founder and director of the Rockingham County Youth Chorus since 2000. She is a member of NATS, judges NATS competitions and has had an article published in the NATS journal on adolescent vocal tension. Students from her private studio compete at the NATS competitions. Dr. Vaughn has served on the elementary & middle school NCMEA board, and also as R&S chair for women’s choirs on the NCACDA board. She is retired from the public school and now teaching privately only.
