Bio: Jeanne is a Classical and Broadway Vocalist who began studying voice in 1998 as a teenager. She then went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from George Mason University in 2007. As a young singer, she was very shy and quiet and it took several years of hard work learning to overcome performance anxiety and tension, as well as developing breath control and a beautiful clear tone. Because of this, Jeanne loves helping students who struggle with some of the same issues. Jeanne accepts students any age from 3-100 years. For younger students, Jeanne focuses on pitch matching, breathing, producing a beautiful tone, and learning the basic elements of music and songs through fun activities. For singers in their teenage years and up, Jeanne teaches breath control, alleviating tension, singing with a relaxed and open throat, beautiful tone, sight singing, music theory, and a variety of repertoire. Jeanne tailors her instruction to the individual needs of each student. She also posts extra practice tips and tools on her Google Classroom to make practicing easier for her students. She offers virtual lessons to any students who live farther away. Throughout the years, Jeanne has never stopped her own vocal training. After finishing her degree and moving to Utah, she studied privately under Dr. Arden Hopkin during his tenure as head of vocal studies at Brigham Young University, and currently studies with faculty member of the University of Utah, Dr. Carol Ann Allred. Throughout her vocal career, Jeanne has studied Classical, Opera, and Broadway music. She has performed in various musical, operatic, and theatrical productions over the years. Currently, Jeanne is performing with the Utah Symphony Chorus at Abravanel Hall. Recently Jeanne began studying the Suzuki Method of teaching and is certified in Every Child Can as well as Suzuki Early Childhood Education Stage 1. Additionally, Jeanne began her Kodaly Certification from Brigham University and is certified in Kodaly Level 1. Jeanne firmly believes that there is always more you can learn about singing.
