Title: Adjunct Professor of Voice, Webster University

Bio:

Jermaine Manor enjoys a multifaceted career as a Professor of Voice, conductor, collaborative pianist, and Worship & Arts Pastor. A native of Miami, Florida, he is a graduate of the prestigious New World School of the Arts and an alumnus of Auburn University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Pedagogy and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting. He also holds certifications in Commercial Music from Berklee College of Music, Evidence Based Voice Training and Church Music from the Royal School of Church Music in Croydon, England.

As a former student of Juilliard alumni Elisabeth Braden and Eric Caldwell, Jermaine brings a unique understanding of the voice-body connection to his singing and instruction. His pedagogical and artistic insight sets him apart as an educator and performer, equipping him to succeed across genres—from opera and classical to jazz, gospel, and musical theatre. This versatility has led to teaching appointments at institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University, Point Park University, McKendree University, and Webster University.

In addition to his current role as Adjunct Professor of Voice at Webster University, Jermaine is deeply connected to the performing arts community in St. Louis and beyond. As former Co-Artistic Director of the Vocal Company at COCA, he mentored young artists and broadened their musical perspectives. He frequently collaborates with The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, contributing as a coach, composer, and music director on projects ranging from Noël Coward’s Private Lives to original compositions for James and the Giant Peach and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.

Jermaine also serves as Worship & Arts Pastor at New Life In Christ Church, where he has led for over nine years. He oversees a vibrant department of singers, instrumentalists, dancers, and media teams. From Handel’s Messiah to Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concert, he has cultivated a diverse and inclusive worship culture marked by excellence and community.

As a clinician, Jermaine is widely sought after for workshops and presentations on vocal technique, pedagogy, and vocal health, as well as on topics of racial equity and diversity in the arts. He is a passionate advocate for stylistic freedom in music, affirming that “music has no color—only styles. Sing what you want to sing, no matter what color you are.”

A published composer and arranger, Jermaine’s works are performed across the United States and internationally. He collaborates frequently with longtime friend Dr. Brandon Boyd, and their compositions are published by Gentry Publications, Hinshaw Music, GIA Publications, and Kjos Music Press.

He is a proud member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS).

Jermaine lives by the mantra: “What I do is a get-to, not a have-to.”
