Bio:
A native of Rock Springs, WY, baritone and pianist Zachary J. McCulley recently joined the faculty in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of Wyoming as an Assistant Lecturer of Musical Theatre Voice and Music Directing. Zachary received his Master of Music in Vocal Arts with advanced studies in Vocology from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, and a Certificate in Performance from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music. He has completed all three levels of the Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM) Institute at Shenandoah Conservatory and Tom Burke's Twang Farm. Notable teachers include Rod Gilfry, Sara Bardill, and Dr. Seth Keeton. He studied piano at Cornish College of the Arts under Dr. Peter Mack, and in Wyoming under Dr. Martha Holloway and Tressie Parsons.
As a vocalist Zachary has recently been seen on stages across the USA as Demetrius in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, Antonio and Figaro in Mozart’s LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Frank and Frosch in Johann Strauss’s DIE FLEDERMAUS, Nathan Detroit in GUYS AND DOLLS, King Hildebrand in Jonathan Dove’s THE ENCHANTED PIG and Melisso in Handel’s ALCINA. As a pianist Zachary has recently engaged in collaborative work with many singers, choirs, chamber ensembles, and musical productions such as ELF THE MUSICAL, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, and THE SECRET GARDEN.
Zachary is a proud member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, The Speak Easy Cooperative, and Musical Theatre Educators Alliance.
