Bio: Megan Weston is a soprano, teacher, and the general director of Athena Music Foundation. She has taught master classes for the San Diego Chamber Orchestra and La Sierra University and has served on juries for the Premiere Opera Foundation International Competition and NYIOP Auditions. She is an instructor of voice at Teachers College, Columbia University, and maintains voice and piano studios in Manhattan and Stony Point, NY. Her performance experience includes Lightfoot McClendon in the premiere production of Carlisle Floyd’s Cold Sassy Tree (San Diego Opera), Lisa in La sonnambula (Caramoor Festival), Olympia in Les contes d’Hoffmann (Tulsa Opera), Despina in Così fan tutte (Utah Opera), Carmina Burana (San Diego Symphony), Knoxville: Summer of 1915 (Glens Falls Symphony), Cunegonde in Candide (Lyric Opera San Diego), Tuptim in The King and I (Charlottesville Opera), The Swallow in Sergio Cervetti's Elegy for a Prince (DCINY at Carnegie Hall), and Anne in Harold Farberman's Diamond Street (Albany Records). She has won top prizes from the Gerda Lissner International Competition, Metropolitan Opera Western Regional Auditions, and Zachary National Competition, NATS-LA Competition, and was a member of the Young Artist Programs of San Diego Opera, Utah Opera, and Aspen Opera Theater Center. With Athena Music Foundation, she toured and produced performances in New York, California, Florida, Dubai, Hong Kong, Macau, and Beijing, and co-produced La traviata with The Berkshire There Group. Megan Weston established the Athena Prize in 2022 presented to first-place winners of the Premiere Opera Competition. Her students have been accepted into music and theater programs with New York University Tisch School of the Arts, Mannes School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Columbia University School of the Arts, and have performed with the Metropolitan Opera and the Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
