Eric Gordon Hominick
In 1980, Eric Hominick received a Bachelor of Arts in Music (voice) from Dalhousie University, where he studied with Jefferson Morris and participated in Master Classes and the Opera Workshop Program. He also received an Assistantship to accompany in Mr. Morris’ voice studio for two of his years of study. He furthered his voice studies in Vancouver with Dr. Jacob Hamm (1985-1990) and Joseph Shore (1990-2006), from whom he received a Certificate of Completion in Voice Studies in 2002. Professional choral experience includes two seasons (1980-1982) as bass chorister and soloist with the Halifax Pro Musica under Fred Mooney; and eleven seasons (1983-1994) as baritone chorister and soloist with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, under the baton of Jon Washburn, with whom he toured North America, Europe and Asia (Russia, Ukraine, Baltic Republics, Finland, Mainland China and Hong Kong). As a voice teacher, Mr. Hominick has taught for 25 years both privately and at several institutions, including the Vancouver Community College, King Edward campus and Douglas Community College, New Westminster campus. He is a member in good standing with the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), holds a Certificate from Joseph Shore’s Camerata Studio (2002), and currently runs private studios in Vancouver and Langley, BC.
As a clinician, Eric has assisted the B.C. Choral Federation (participating in vocal and accompanist workshops) as well as local choral organizations. In addition, he was pleased to adjudicate the 2004 West Coast Music Competition and 2002 Vancouver International Ceilidh Song Competition.
Mr. Hominick is comfortable in a wide variety of musical styles. Although his formal training is in the classical style, he has performed and recorded in popular music, musical theatre and contemporary gospel, has been a cruise ship entertainer, and is a seasoned Special Occasions performer.
Recording credits (singing) include seven CD’s with the Vancouver Chamber Choir, a limited CD of songs from the early 1900’s, and several recordings with a variety of traditional and contemporary Christian groups.
