Katina Mitchell

Bio:
As an artist-teacher, Katina uses her training and 20+ years of performance experience to lead students in a fulfilling exploration of music. In addition to her private teaching practice, she is on faculty at Palomar College. She has lectured for ensembles and served as a classroom educator, competition adjudicator, and audition panelist. She holds a BM from Rice and a DMA from USC.
At her private studio in San Diego, Katina teaches voice lessons informed by music theory and music history. Her teaching style is influenced by the Alexander Technique, functional voice training, improvisation, and bel canto singing. Her technical approach is rooted in physiological efficiency so that students learn to sing in a healthy way, allowing a versatile approach to all styles of music. Katina welcomes students of all levels ages 12 and older.
