Style: Pop; Opera; Jazz; Classical; Musical Theatre
Title: NATS-Los Angeles Chapter Board Member, NATS-Central Florida Chapter member
Bio:
Lori Moran has been performing and teaching since 1985. She has a special gift for nurturing young voices, encouraging self-expression and developing innate musicality. Lori's positive and upbeat approach provides a safe place where students learn to enjoy the process as they grow in their understanding of their instrument.
Lori helps her students understand and execute the demands of working as a singer in today's diverse musical environment, which requires performers to wear many hats, understand various musical genres, and retain solid vocal technique to support a lifetime of healthy singing. Her students are regularly accepted into and receive sizable scholarships for top-tier college music and theater programs (San Francisco Conservatory, NYU-Tisch, UCLA, USC, Berklee, Yale, University of Michigan, etc.), and many have gone on to perform on Broadway, and grace some of the world's most prestigious stages.
Lori's unusually versatile voice has served her well in her own performance career, which runs the gamut between musical theatre, choral, opera, oratorio, pop, jazz, cabaret, and big band ~ all of which she brings to bear in working with her students.
A regular session singer Lori has recorded feature solo and background vocal tracks for many artists in the pop, jazz, and classical genres, commercials and motion pictures, including "2012", "Percy Jackson & The Olympians", "Iron Man II" & Disney's "The Sorcerer's Apprentice".
Lori has performed with the world-renowned Disney Voices of Liberty, appeared on numerous Disney recordings, and has been a featured soloist for the Florida Symphony Orchestra, the Tampa Bay Oratorio, and the Orlando Opera Company. She has traveled the world performing for Crystal Cruises, the industry leader in luxury cruising, and continues to perform as a headliner for various special events across the country. Among her musical theater credits are the roles of Christine in Phantom of the Opera, Adelaide in Guys & Dolls, Laurie in Oklahoma, Fantine in Les Miserables, Fanny Bryce in Funny Girl, Sally Bowles in Cabaret, and Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly.
Lori earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from Florida State University. A certified and accredited teacher, she has taught music in public and private schools, conducted church choirs and orchestras, and served as clinician for the popular "Disney Sings" Workshops at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Her students have consistently received superior ratings at district, state, regional and national contests, and she is often invited as a judge/clinician for numerous vocal competitions and masterclasses throughout the US and abroad. She is listed in the National "Who's Who Among America's Teachers", is a member of Actors' Equity Association, Screen Actors' Guild (SAG-AFTRA) and serves on the executive board of the Los Angeles Chapter of NATS. She is also a member of the Central Florida chapter of NATS. Lori maintains her studio in Southern California, teaches from her home in Orlando, FL and live online (via Zoom, FaceTime and Skype) to students all over the US and internationally.

Testimonials from Lori's students:
"I have felt absolutely comfortable recommending Lori to my high school students, and have even studied with her myself. Singers today need to understand classical and pop styles of singing, and Lori can teach them all, whether it is operatic, belting, or the mix."
--Joel Pressman, Music Department Chairman Beverly Hills High School
"I cannot recommend Lori enough! She has helped me to refine my technique and go beyond just singing notes on the page. As a young professional, Lori has helped me to grow as an artist in both musical theatre and classical realms. Lori is a teacher who will meet you where you're at and build you up in a supportive and positive environment. Her flexibility was great for me when I was working full-time, and her professional experience is very valuable when it comes to learning about the modern day music industry. Lori is a wonderful teacher who is knowledgable about a wide variety of musical styles, competitions, and audition techniques. I hope to continue working with her via Skype lessons in the near future! Thank you, Lori!!
--Megan Masson, classical voice major, 2020 graduate Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles
"Lori has a wonderful way of explaining the intricacies of the voice. In my opinion, the hardest part of singing is that most of the adjustments you make are internal, and therefore can't be physically demonstrated. Lori is unique in that she helps the singer to visualize what they want to achieve, and allows them to connect that image with the physical action that they want to produce. I've made more progress with Lori than anyone else, because she is able to pinpoint what I need to work on, and tell me exactly how to do it."
--Rachel Dubois, student at Yale University
"Lori is a talented, patient instructor who has helped build confidence in my daughter. Lori is well adept at understanding all ages of those who enjoy music -- from the time she devotes to her community and teaching, she truly is a remarkable person. I would recommend her for anyone learning to use their voice or play the piano.
--Anjali Hans, Orlando, FL
"I started piano lessons to better my overall musicality and because I had always had an interest in theory and reading music as a singer/songwriter. Lori Moran really got to know me and my personality and chose the perfect method of teaching to suit my needs. After only four lessons I felt like I was able to play at a basic level that made me want to keep learning! She is so patient and knowledgeable and I have had such a wonderful experience with her. I would urge anyone interested in piano or vocal lessons to take from Lori Moran; she is incredible!"
--Sarah Cardenas, singer/songwriter
"In just the short time that Lori has worked with my daughter, I have seen a clearly noticeable improvement in her singing range and style. But I am more appreciative for something Lori has somehow given her - higher self-esteem and motivation. Prior to coming to Lori, she had "lost her jingle". Lori's teaching has resparked her self-esteem, given her more confidence, and made her much more happy."
--Mr. Joel Springer
"For three years now, I have been referring my students to Lori Moran Music for vocal lessons. Lori Moran is a highly trained, excellent voice coach. She is a wonderful teacher, adored by her students. It is comforting to be able to contact Lori when my students are working on specific songs for our musical productions. She works with them to prepare for auditions as well as after they are cast into roles. I appreciate the fact that the studio guides students to understand both classical and pop/musical theatre styles of singing. Students are taught to link their chest and head voices with fluidity. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for voice training to Lori Moran Music Studio."
--Shanti Belasco, director and owner of Belasco Theatre Company
"Lori Moran has been transformative for our son who has been taking lessons from her for about 3 years. She is a warm, nurturing teacher who has been a wonderful coach and mentor. She helped him choose pieces for college auditions as well as competitions. He has had several theater/voice treachers over the years and is extremely critical, but he can't find a single negative thing to say about Lori...He enjoys every single lesson with her, and comes home still singing! She does earn an income from her teaching as she is a professional, but she teaches earnestly from her heart and it really shows. Our son has really learned to love singing which he will have for the rest of his life. We recommend Lori enthusiastically and whole-heartedly!! You would be hard-pressed to find anyone better."

"My daughter, Hayley (who is 13), has been taking voice lessons from Lori Moran for about three years. Lori has been an invaluable resource for me and for Hayley. Hayley is a member of a youth musical theater company, and participates in two shows that run for three weeks every year. Lori has helped Hayley learn to sing in a healthy manner, without undue strain on her voice (which is a big concern for such a young singer who enjoys "belting"). Hayley has grown so much as a singer, and has taken on challenging songs with success. Lori has worked tirelessly with Hayley on her head voice (her strength is her chest voice) and it has been amazing to see the progress. At 12 years old, Hayley actually sang a song in Italian (and it sounded good). Lori has also been great about giving Hayley advice for auditions and competitions. And, she is totally flexible with scheduling, which can get crazy at times. I really can't recommend Lori enough. A+++++."

"I have been studying with Lori Moran for over a year. I think the most amazing thing about her is the way she inspires her students to perform to the best of their ability. She truly believes in each and every person she teaches and continues to push them to get out there and share their talents with others. I recommend Lori to anyone who is looking for a teacher to bring them to the next level."
