Bio:
Lyric soprano Lisabeth Miller is sought after for her musically sensitive and dramatically compelling performances on both the opera and concert stages. She recently performed the roles of Donna, Jennifer, and Holly in the world premiere of “The Faith Operas” by David Wolfson with Hartford Opera Theater, and also made her debut with the Manchester Symphony and Chorale as the soprano soloist in Mahler’s Das Klagende Lied. 2016 included recital performances as part of the Twenty-First century music series at the Prosser Library in Bloomfield and the Noon Concert Series at the First Congregational Church of Windsor, CT. Miller has recently been featured in concert as a soloist with the University of Connecticut Festival Chorus (Carmina Burana), the Farmington Valley Symphony, the Farmington Valley Chorale, the Shoreline Chorale, the New Britain Chorale, the Nutmeg Symphony, and for CONCORA’s spring 2011 opera excerpts concert conducted by Willie Anthony Waters. Next up for Miller is a role debut as the Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Farmington Valley Chorale in December 2017.
Miller recently made her debut Opera Connecticut in Gianni Schicchi (Nella). She has been featured in performances at Opera Theater of Connecticut, Hartford Opera Theater, and Hillhouse Opera. As a DMA candidate in voice performance at the University of Connecticut, Miller sang the role of Ann Putnam in The Crucible and First Lady in Die Zauberflöte. An enthusiastic performer of new music, Miller has been featured in Hartford Opera Theater’s “New in November” festivals from 2010-2017.
Dr. Miller earned her DMA in voice performance at the University of CT, as a student of renowned pedagogue Dr. Constance Rock. She also holds a master of music degree from the Hartt School of Music, as well as a bachelor of arts degree in music from Brandeis University. She is proud to be the artistic director of Hartford Opera Theater, as well as director of music at Old St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Bloomfield, CT. www.lisabethmiller.com
