Bio: I've been teaching since 1974; professional performer in musicals, theatre, jazz, and opera; past: taught piano; Artistic Director/General Mgr of Opera and Beyond; President, Sec, Newsletter, & Treas of Denver Area MTA, Sec/Treas of CO/WY NATS Chapter, CSMTA Outreach VP, GAMTA & EVMTA Yearbook VP. Have two jazz-standards CDs (working on third), two children's story/song/poetry anthologies, and guest on two other story-telling CDs; FaceTime or SKYPE lessons available! Mentoring new voice teachers is latest focus. Vocologist (trained at Nat. Center for Voice and Speech--Vocology Institute); CoreSinging Teacher Certification (first group certified in USA); Lessac-Madsen Resonant Voice Therapy Certification; BA, Univ So Florida in K-12 Vocal Music Ed and Studio Voice (theatre scholarship); Master of Humanities, Un Colorado at Denver (theatre, voice, art history, comparative literature); taught college 15 years; focus has been on private studio since 2002. I teach free, easy, natural VOICE, first. Literature and style is added afterward. Legitimate voice is the basis for all singing, for safety's sake. Contemporary Commercial Music should be added on top of the best principles in singing to protect the voice from damage during "extreme" singing.
