Bio:
Baritone Jason Mallory has performed in opera and oratorio in the United States, Italy, and Poland. His repertoire features many of the great Mozart operas: as Count Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, Nardo in La finta Giardiniera, and Jesus in Die Schuldigkeit des ersten und führnehmsten Gebots. His other roles from the standard repertoire include Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Dr. Dulcamara in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore, Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s La Traviata, Top in Copland’s The Tender Land, Ben in Menotti’s The Telephone, Pooh-Bah in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado, and Maximilian in Bernstein’s Candide.
Mr. Mallory’s oratorio credits include Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de Confessore, Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio, Fauré’s Requiem, and Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs. Mr. Mallory has roots in Columbia, Missouri, but he received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California, Master of Music degree from the University of Louisville, and Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Iowa. He teaches Applied Voice, Vocal Pedagogy and Literature, Opera Workshop, Lyric Diction, and World Music at Lindenwood and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and formerly taught at the University of Louisville, the University of Iowa, and Coe College.
