Title: Voice Teacher
Bio: I love teaching voice technique and expression. For over 20 years I have taught students both privately and in public schools with ages ranging from 5 to 85. I have directed and performed musical theater, performed in operas, have participated in highly acclaimed training programs, and continue to learn and research. The two main areas of my growth for the last few years are 1) developing a series of books for teaching children, 2) learning to sing in the Gospel style and becoming more acquainted with the history, genre, and artists. The song-focused method books I have developed for children are based on Solfège, the Kodály music education approach. The lessons have multi-tiers of learning to meet the needs of all my students, including those with learning challenges. My training in the Gospel style has helped me and my students to discover how to use my chest voice with freedom, with more colors, and so much more flexibility. My goal is for singing to bring JOY to the singer through finding freedom in the voice with music of all styles while learning to express with creativity and with deeper emotional connection.
