Bio:
Kelly Hoppenjans has been a voice teacher in independent and academic settings for 10 years. She worked as an adjunct instructor in Commercial Voice at Belmont from 2017 to 2020, and currently teaches remotely and in Ann Arbor. She is pursuing her doctorate in Musicology from the University of Michigan with a focus on digital music creation and voice studies. She earned her Master of Music in Commercial Voice from Belmont in 2015, and her Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre from Northwestern University in 2011. Her graduate work focused on researching how successful singer-songwriters use their unique vocal qualities to craft an individual writing and performing style, and she prides herself on using this research to help her students find their own unique styles as artists.
In addition to her teaching work, Kelly is also an active recording artist and performer; she has released a full length album and two EPs and regularly performs in Nashville and on tour as a solo artist. Her music has been featured on NPR, American Songwriter, and many publications and radio stations across the country. Kelly brings her real world experience as an independent artist to her students, offering them a fresh and current perspective on their futures in music.
