Bio: John Hacker, an alum of the University of Illinois, has sung in many professional venues in the Chicago area. He has performed roles with Bowen Park Opera, Dupage Opera Theater, Light Opera Works and Drury Lane Oakbrook. Chorus engagements have included performances with both Chicago Opera Theater and Chicago’s Lyric Opera. He has directed choirs at Barrington High School where he co-directed their musical productions of Wizard of Oz, Camelot and Thoroughly Modern Millie; is an Adjunct Professor of Voice at Judson University; maintains a private voice studio in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago; has worked as the director and music director for community theater companies; and serves in his church’s music ministry as a soloist and teen choir director. His voice teaching philosophy includes pursuing a healthy, sustainable tone while clearly communicating the meaning of the text. I work with all styles but specialize in classical, musical theater, and American songbook.
