Title: Soprano/Voice Teacher

Bio:

PHILOSOPHY: I believe every voice is a unique gem. With the correct training and polishing we bring out it's shimmering radiance. Learning to sing is a life long journey. There is always something new to learn for teacher and student. Patience, persistence and love of the art and craft are key to success. Enhance the true beauty and power of your voice. If you are an intermediate to advanced level singer I have the background and experience to help you maintain, strengthen and further develop your voice. My technique ensures that the sound you produce is free, supported and beautifully yours.

TECHNIQUE: Based on the Italian "bel canto" tradition and encompassing the knowledge and expertise gained by 35 plus years of study, teaching and performing. Balanced postural alignment and release of un-useful body tensions are key to achieving efficient breath management and support for tone. With these basic tools and attention to clear vowel production we can better access the natural power and resonance of the voice. Through specific and targeted exercises I will help you achieve a strong and easily produced lower register, bring out and strengthen your mid range and extend your upper register with ease and comfort to ensure an even registration of the voice throughout. We will choose music you enjoy singing and which will challenge and assist your vocal growth. Musical and dramatic coaching and lyric diction are also provided.

STUDENTS PERFORM: I provide in studio workshops and recitals and coaching for auditions, performances and competitions. Qualified students will be notified of and encouraged to participate in National NATS and Regional competitions and workshops as well as the SFBAC NATS chapter workshops and singing festivals in addition to other competitions, concerts, recitals, musical theater, opera auditions and scholarship competitions.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE: In addition to over 35 years of instruction in my private studio, I have taught individual and class voice at Diablo Valley College, College Preparatory School, the Alameda School of Music, Oakland School for the Arts and Piedmont Children's Choir.

PERFORMING EXPERIENCE: My professional singing credits include leading and title roles in opera, concert and musical theater in the United States, Italy and Spain.
