Bio:
Dr. Wayne Crannell is Associate Professor of Music at Austin College where he has been Director of Vocal/Choral Music for 25 years, eight of them as Chair. Before coming to Austin College, Dr. Crannell taught at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and Simpson College in Iowa. Dr. Crannell has been an active singer for 35 years and has appeared with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Des Moines Symphony, Racine Chamber Orchestra, Des Moines Metro Opera, Sherman Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, Milwaukee Civic Orchestra, and other orchestras and opera companies throughout the Midwest and in Texas. He has sung under and for such conductors as Levine, Solti, Hillis, Shaw, Foss, Salamunovich, and Copland. Dr. Crannell received the M.M. in Choral Conducting from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the D.M.A. in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory where he studied with Dr. Anne DeLauney.
At Austin College, Dr. Crannell directs the vocal ensembles and teaches courses in vocal pedagogy, vocal and choral literature, conducting, and music appreciation.
