Bio: Dr. Jayne E. Campbell is well known as a music educator, choral director, voice teacher and classical performer. She has been published in the National Association of Teachers of Singing journal and is the composer and co-lyricist of several children’s musicals. Her award-winning choirs have toured both locally and abroad, and have been featured performers at CMEA and ACDA conventions, St. Martin-in-the-fields, the Acadêmie Gabriel Fauré, Teatro Salieri, and the L.A. Master Chorale Disney Hall High School Festival. Choir awards include ACDA Golden State, Evergreen/Mt. View Invitational Festival, Riverside Choralfest, and the National Grammy Foundation (Signature School Gold award). She has a roster of former voice students active as performers (classical, opera and popular music) and music teachers in both choral (elementary through college) and private voice instruction. She has a B.M. (cum laude), an M. M. in Voice Performance and a D.M.A. in Music Education from the USC Thornton School of Music. She was named the outstanding undergraduate in voice performance and received the alumni award for the outstanding Bachelor of Music candidate. She was the recipient of the Westlake School for Girls Faculty Recognition Award and is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society. Dr. Campbell has held numerous church positions as alto soloist and has served as interim director of both adult and youth choirs at First United Methodist in Pasadena and Westwood. Her teaching experience in choral music encompasses both secondary (Crossroads, Harvard-Westlake and LACHSA), as well as collegiate levels (USC, Cal-State L.A., Cal-Poly Pomona and GCC). She is a frequent presenter on vocal issues, most recently for the 2018 ACDA Western Division Conference. Past presentations include SCVA and MACCC. She was Associate Professor of Music (tenured), at Glendale Community College for nine years, where she founded the Chamber Singers and opera workshop. In her retirement, she continues to work as an adjudicator, guest conductor and teaches private voice from her Sherman Oaks studio.
