Job Description / Duties

JOB DESCRIPTION
Seeking a full-time Resident Music Director / Head of Voice Department to join the programming team. This individual should love working with children and be confident teaching ages 7-18. Significant experience music directing youth theater productions and excellent accompaniment skills are essential. The ideal candidate will not only music direct our full-scale productions and collaborate with their fellow staff members on the creation of shows, but will also run our voice department. Candidates should be comfortable supervising others, have a positive attitude, creative mind, collaborative nature, never-ending patience, and an ego they’re willing to check at the door. They should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as they will frequently communicate with parents about programming logistics and provide student feedback.

Resident Music Director Responsibilities
· Music direct 4-5 full-scale shows per year
· Accompany auditions / callbacks / rehearsals as necessary
· Hire pit musicians as necessary and run pit rehearsals
· Conduct / play shows as necessary
· Communicate with licensing company to sort out track alterations
· Assist with track edits for additional programs


Head Of The Voice Department
· HR - Coordinate with the Artistic Director to identify staffing needs, create job descriptions, conduct interviews, hire, and facilitate onboarding process
· Voice Studio Supplies and Maintenance - Coordinate with teachers to address any in-studio needs (sheet music, music stands, humidifiers, office supplies, piano tuning)
· Voice Department Support: Oversee and supervise all voice teachers, classes, and / or masterclasses
· Teaching: Teach weekly individual voice students and classes (class subjects determined by employee with supervisor’s guidance)

Client Relations
· Write post-audition student feedback for parents
· Answer parent questions about any voice department related programming
· Write job / college recommendations upon request

Other Responsibilities
· Attend / accompany at special events (approximately 2/yr)
· Assist with maintaining / organizing the studio


JOB DETAILS
Start Date: Full-time start mid-August 2022, limited hourly work available June-August 2022

Benefits: Health insurance (partially paid by employer), 401k, paid time off (vacation, sick, personal)

Schedule: In person; ~3-6 days a week depending on where in the rehearsal process the current production is

Travel: The organization’s rehearsal studio is in Elmsford, NY. Performances and special events are at several venues throughout Westchester County, NY. Employees must provide their own transportation.
