Title: Professional Soloist, Concert Director, Voice/Acting /Piano Teacher
Bio: As a voice teacher and voice coach, I strive to help the students get to where they want to be with their voices. For me, singing is something that brings me joy and I hope to be able to share that with you. I am a professional Opera Singer, Soloist, Cantor, Actor, and, Voice/Acting Teacher, while studying vocal performance at the University of Maryland at College Park where I fell in love with singing Classical Music, and jazz and began singing as a soloist. Also, while in Maryland, I acted as a section leader and voice teacher for a local choir. I also had the opportunity to work as a jazz soloist in local jazz clubs. After graduating from the University of MD, I studied voice at the University of Colorado Boulder. While in Colorado, I performed with a Women’s Choir, worked as an actor with a theater company, and performed in the Little Shop of Horrors, the opera Sarah Mckinnon, and the Magic Flute. I also learned to create performances as a recitalist. When I returned to Maryland, I continued working as a soloist and doing choral work with the Emmy Award-Winning Washington Chorus. I had the opportunity to sing at the Wolf Trap. I also had the chance to perform in a rarely done performance of Rachmaninoff’s Aleko. I acted in a production of Romeo and Juliet alongside the American Ballet Theater at the Kennedy Center. In the past few years, I have been a soloist and recitalist in the Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia (the DMV) area. I sang with Center Stage Opera in the role of Bertha. I had the opportunity to sing and act at the Kennedy Center. Also during that time, I sang in Die Zauberflöte as the Queen of the Night, Serena in Porgy and Bess, and sang in Ragtime and performed the role of the Wardrobe in Beauty and the Beast. I have sung in Chicago, Canada, Connecticut; Bloomington, IN; New York, York, PA; Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Connecticut, Virginia; and Washington, DC. Also, I have begun working as a cantor in the Archdiocese of Washington. In addition to that, I have been teaching acting and voice lessons regularly for 11 years. Until recently, I was working with the National Cathedral Choral Society, alongside two other local ensembles I continue to work with. I have also been allowed to be a Director of a Concert Series for the last 10 years. I’ve been appointed the Director of Special Programs, and for a short while, I had the privilege to direct a Children’s Gospel Choir. My students inspire me to share my joy of performance and to help them grow and flourish as performers as well. I consider it amazing to watch them grow. In the production company, I am also working as a Producer/Executive Producer, Casting Director, Choreographer, Web Developer, and singer/actor in two television shows that were being made locally. I am currently writing a book of monologues for teenage actors to be published on Amazon. This past summer, while in my residency, I performed in vocal ensembles in New York as a part of my Graduate Studies. I am a current Graduate Student at Columbia University’s Teacher’s College. I did not have to relocate to New York for my Graduate Program. I am only in New York in the summer. I’m excited to see where my studies take me and where they take the studio. More recently I was Judy in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time and reprised my role of Madame De La Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast. I’ve also been made Director of a local Choir. I had the great pleasure of singing with the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society. I have been teaching speaking voice as well. The Concert Series is in its 10th year, and the studio will be 11 years old this year. I look forward to what this year will bring.
