Make It Groove! Understanding Contemporary Commercial Music Styles is a comparative approach to popular music framed in historical context. Presented in an upbeat, fun loving approach, the topic covers the similarities and differences among today’s most popular musical styles: jazz, pop, R&B, rock, singer/songwriter, country and blues. Teacher's will leave with improved listening skills and concrete tools to apply in teaching CCM styles. In today's competitive market, these skills can turn a good singer into a polished pro!
About Marcelle Gauvin
Marcelle Gauvin is associate professor at Berklee College of Music where she teaches Survey of Vocal Styles and serves as the department's voice retraining specialist. She has been a faculty member at Shenandoah University's Contemporary Commercial Music Institute for the last nine years and is a professional jazz vocalist by trade with four CD's to her credit. Her clients cross all musical genres with national and international credits to their names. She owns Double Bar Music, a music school/store located in Southeastern Massachusetts with her two daughters.
